At Kodecoon Academy, we are excited to announce the stellar achievements of our students at the National Junior Cybersecurity Olympiad (NJCO) and International Junior Cybersecurity Olympiad (IJCO) 2024. This incredible accomplishment is a testament to our commitment to empowering the next generation of tech innovators and problem-solvers.
About the National Junior Cybersecurity Olympiad
The NJCO, organized by the Singapore International Math Contests Centre (SIMCC), supported by NUS comm science, in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity R&D Lab (NCL) and the Centre for Nurturing Computing Excellence (CeNCE), is a pioneering event aimed at introducing students to the fundamentals of cybersecurity.
Through a combination of pre-recorded video modules, practice multiple-choice questions, and hands-on competitive exercises, the NJCO is designed to equip secondary school students (ages 14 –18) with a solid foundation in cybersecurity. This includes learning adversarial thinking, cryptographic techniques, network security, and digital forensics.
Topics Covered at NJCO
Students participating in NJCO gained exposure to critical cybersecurity topics, including:
- Cryptography
- Understanding cryptographic techniques and their real-world applications.
- Exploring types of encryption methods and their fascinating implementations.
- Networking Fundamentals
- Identifying common network vulnerabilities, such as data exposure and eavesdropping.
- Using discovery tools like Wireshark to analyze and secure networks.
- Red Teaming & Capture the Flag (CTF) Introduction
- Working with Linux-based operating systems, file permissions, and programming skills for cybersecurity challenges.
- Digital Forensics
- Investigating digital evidence through forensic processes and tools.
Their dedication, teamwork, and ability to tackle complex cybersecurity challenges set a new standard of excellence for the academy.

Why Cybersecurity Education Matters
In today’s interconnected world, cybersecurity education is more critical than ever. It equips students with essential skills to safeguard data, secure systems, and combat digital threats. As technology evolves, so do cyber risks, making cybersecurity expertise indispensable for protecting individuals, organizations, and global networks.
By fostering awareness and teaching practical skills, cybersecurity education prepares students to address the challenges of the digital age and excel in a growing field that ensures the safety of our online future.
Besides, many of our secondary students are also building up their cybersecurity portfolio for Early Admission Exercise (EAE) to their dream polytechnics.
