Scratch Coder

Course Overview

Welcome to our Scratch programming course! Here, your child will embark on a fun and interactive journey into the world of coding. Using Scratch, a user-friendly programming language, your child will learn how to create their own games, animations, and stories. Through this process, they will develop crucial problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity skills that will serve them well in the future. Our experienced instructors will guide your child every step of the way, fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment. By the end of the course, your child will have the confidence and skills to showcase their own unique projects and will have discovered the joy of coding!

Course Objectives

  • Learn the functions and make use of different block types (motion, looks, sounds, pen, data, sensing, events, control, operators, etc.) in their creation
  • Learn strategies for solving problems, designing projects, and communicating ideas
  • Learn to make their very own animations and games

Strengthening Decomposition Skills

At Kodecoon, we are dedicated to helping our students develop critical thinking and decomposition skills, which are essential for success in the world of programming. Instead of simply providing a set of instructions, our curriculum focuses on guiding students to identify the different components needed to create a game of their choice. This approach encourages students to think deeply and analyze problems, ultimately strengthening their ability to break down complex programming tasks into manageable parts.

From Theory to Application

In our programming course, we strive to bridge the gap between theory and application by providing students with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Each lesson is divided into two sections: theory and application. During the theoretical section, we cover core programming concepts using engaging stories, exercises, and activities. In the application section, we give students opportunities to apply what they have learned by creating games that reinforce the concepts they have studied.

Real Life Application

We believe that real-life application is key to mastering programming concepts. To this end, at the end of the program, our students will participate in the Kode It, Sparkies! Hackathon. This exciting event will challenge students to apply their newly acquired skills and knowledge to create a game that addresses an important real-world issue, such as Global Warming or Cyber Bullying. Through this experience, students will not only have the opportunity to showcase their creativity and programming skills, but they will also gain a deeper understanding of the relevance and significance of programming in their lives.

Scratch Programming – The Fun Way To Learn

Welcome to Scratch programming, a fun and engaging way to learn the basics of coding and computational thinking. Scratch is a block-based visual programming language that allows you to create interactive stories, games, and animations by snap ping together graphical blocks of code. Here’s what you can expect from Scratch programming:

Easy to
Learn & Use

Scratch is designed to be easy to learn and use for beginners

Its block-based interface makes coding accessible and fun for people of all ages

Create Your
Own Projects

With Scratch, you can create your own projects, from simple animations to complex games

You can let your creativity and imagination run wild and bring your ideas to life through coding

Share & Collaborate

Scratch also has a large online community where you can share your projects and collaborate with other coders from around the world

You can learn from others, get feedback on your work, and discover new ideas for your own projects

Teaches Computational Thinking

Scratch not only teaches you how to code, but it also teaches you computational thinking – a fundamental skill for problem-solving in any field

You’ll learn how to break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable parts and develop algorithms to solve them
