This year’s results mark an encouraging step forward for our students and reflect the effort they invested throughout their preparation. We are proud not only of the final outcome, but also of the discipline and growth they demonstrated along the way.
We also celebrate every Kodecoon student who participated in the competition. Regardless of the final ranking, each participant gained valuable experience in reading questions carefully, applying coding concepts, managing time and staying composed when faced with a difficult task.
Why Coding Competitions Are Valuable for Children in Singapore?
Coding competitions give students a meaningful opportunity to use what they have learned beyond their regular lessons. Instead of following a familiar classroom example, participants must understand a problem, plan an approach and decide how to apply the right coding concepts.
This process helps students strengthen skills that are useful both in programming and in their wider learning journey:
- Computational thinking: Breaking a complex problem into smaller, manageable steps
- Logical reasoning: Identifying patterns and deciding on an effective solution
- Problem-solving: Testing different approaches and improving a solution when something does not work

How Kodecoon Prepares Students for Coding Olympics
Kodecoon Academy’s Coding Olympics preparation programme consisted of 12 hours of structured online training. During the programme, students developed their understanding of the competition platform, practised relevant coding concepts and became familiar with the types of logical challenges they could encounter.
Preparation was not focused only on finding the correct answer. Students were encouraged to understand why a solution worked, recognise errors in their approach and improve their code independently. They also practised working within a time limit so that they could become more comfortable managing competition pressure.
Through this process, students strengthened both their technical abilities and their learning habits. They learned to approach unfamiliar questions calmly, check their work carefully and continue trying even when a solution was not immediately clear.
What Our Coding Olympics Winners Had to Say
We invited several of our Top 20 winners to reflect on their Coding Olympics 2026 experience. Here are some of the thoughts they shared about the competition, the challenges they faced and what they learned along the way.
1. How did you feel when you found out that you were among the Top 20 winners?
The winners shared that they felt proud, surprised, happy and excited when they received the news. As Coding Olympics is a large-scale competition and some were participating in a coding competition for the first time, being recognised among the Top 20 made the achievement especially meaningful and memorable. At the same time, some felt motivated to continue improving, particularly in managing their time when attempting difficult questions.
2. What was the most challenging part of the competition?
The winners found some of the more complex questions particularly challenging, as they required careful thinking, good time management and several attempts to solve. For those using the CodeMonkey platform for the first time, learning how to use it and understanding the necessary coding concepts within four days was also a challenge. Although not every difficult question could be completed successfully, the preparation helped them become more familiar with the platform and feel more confident during the competition.
3. What advice would you give to other students who hope to participate in a coding competition?
Their advice is to review tutorials from previous years, study hard and practise coding consistently. Students should not feel discouraged when they encounter difficult questions, but instead learn from their mistakes and continue trying. With regular practice and determination, every student has the opportunity to improve their skills, feel more prepared and work towards achieving a good result.
Their reflections show that Coding Olympics is not only about achieving a good result. It is also an opportunity for students to challenge themselves, identify areas for improvement, learn from their mistakes and grow in confidence throughout the experience.
Can Coding Olympics Support a Student’s Portfolio?
Participating in Coding Olympics can contribute to a student’s portfolio by demonstrating genuine interest, initiative and experience in applying programming knowledge beyond regular classes. A Top 20 result can also provide meaningful recognition of a student’s effort and ability.
For students who are considering future pathways such as Direct School Admission (DSA) through coding, technology or STEM, competition experience may form one useful part of a broader portfolio. However, every school has its own selection criteria. Students should continue developing a balanced portfolio that may include coding projects, other competition experiences, technical knowledge and the ability to explain what they have learned.
The greatest value of a competition is therefore not limited to the certificate or result. It is also found in the skills, confidence and experience that students carry into their next challenge.
Is Coding Olympics Suitable for My Child?
Coding Olympics may be suitable for primary school students who are interested in coding, enjoy logical challenges or would like to experience a beginner-friendly coding competition. It can also benefit students who want to become more confident in applying their knowledge independently.
Before recommending a competition pathway, it is helpful to consider the child’s current coding foundation, learning style and readiness for timed problem-solving. With suitable guidance and preparation, the experience can be both challenging and enjoyable.
